It's great to be in Istanbul! For the remainder of the day, you may wander at will. Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 2 Sunday Istanbul Old City

After breakfast, you get to explore Istanbul's Blue Mosque, Aya Sofya, Topkapi Palace, and the Hippodrome, all of which are connected. You'll have the chance to get to know your fellow travellers a little better at your welcome dinner tonight.

Today we will tour the Gallipoli battlefields, including the Lone Pine and Chunuk Bair memorials, ANZAC Cove, Johnston's Jolly, original trenches and tunnels, and the Gallipoli Museum.

Take a look at Troy and the legendary Trojan Horse, then visit Pergamum's magnificent acropolis. It was a renowned cultural and political hub in ancient times due to its magnificent temples and library.

Take a guided tour of Ephesus today to experience the atmosphere of the ancient city and theatre. Then, continue to the house of the Virgin Mary, where we will learn about the history of carpet weaving in Turkey and about how carpets are created.

This morning we will stop at the white calcium terraces of Pamukkale, known as the Travertines, prior to visiting the ancient city of Hierapolis. Afterward, we will tour the roman city and dip in the hot springs, which were once renowned for their medicinal benefits. Pamukkale (B, D).

Today, we will drive south towards the Mediterranean coast, stopping at the ancient site of Aphrodisias. (Fethiye) is our destination.

You can relax on a day cruise around Fethiye's 12 islands or explore one of Turkey's greatest attractions, Saklikent Gorge, on an optional day trip.

A visit to the ancient Greek village of Kayakoy before driving to the resort town of Antalya for lunch sounds like a nice way to spend the late afternoon.

Take a tour of Perge, home to Aspendos, one of the best-preserved ancient theatres in Asia Minor, which still operates today.

Today we will also visit Sultanhani Caravansary, the biggest caravansary in Anatolia, in addition to Mevlana Celaleddin Rumi's mausoleum in Konya. We will leave early for Cappadocia, stopping en route.

Tonight, don't miss the optional traditional Turkish folklore evening! Be amazed by the lunar landscape of Goreme Valley, the fairy chimneys, and Uchisar castle. Overnight Cappadocia (B, D)
